SEEING SPOTS

Jeff's childhood dream was to own a Dalmatian – finally in 1982 (after a marriage and the birth of three kids) we acquired our first spotted dog from a classified ad in the local newspaper. Since you can never have “just one spot” when you catch spotted fever, we ended up with a total of seven Dalmatians over a matter of a few years, living with five at one point along with three very active children. Our son loved jets at the time, and thought the name “Blackbird” in honor of the military jets would be fitting for his first dog. All of our early spots carried the name “Blackbird” in their registered names.

A SPOTTED LEGACY

For more than 20 years we embraced this older set of canines, and were fondly referred to as the “101 Dalmatian Family.” As such, our spotted legacy began. After decades with such a large, loving canine family, it was extremely hard to let them pass over the rainbow bridge. So hard, in fact, we felt we would be unable to open our hearts to anyone new with spots. That feeling was fleeting, however, and in late December 2004 we went to “look” at an available puppy. Looking turned into loving, and later that day Yankee Dals was born.

A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM

Jeff has always been an avid Yankees baseball fan – even our children have been brainwashed to believe in the NY logo. If you understand baseball at all, you can imagine our excitement when we were given directions that lead us to Jeter Street and a Dalmatian puppy in December of 2004. It was meant to be.

We are members of Dalmatian Club of America and Dalmatian Club of Northern California.
